Description
Whee. This was pure, unadulterated fun, and defenately is a portfolio piece.
Both the title (the "Nuevo" part) and the swirly-circle-y...thing (it SHOULD look faint and subtle) around her are tributes to Alphonse Mucha. I haven't made a big deal out of it, but ever since "Starry Sky" I've been on this Mucha kick. The circle-thing is especially streamlined because I didn't want it to dominate the picture (also read as: I can't do the elegant filigree circle-thing)
I made an artistic choice NOT to have an agressive, angry look on the woman's face. I gave her a hard look, but she's not screaming in rage for a reason. It's VERY difficult to make a woman shreiking in rage look beautiful, and once I figured out she was a valkyrie, it made more sense to me to make her emotionally distanced from what she was doing.
Yes. This was a lot of fun, very good practice, and a good exparament.
I PROMISE that I'll start "Earth" next.
P.S. yes. I used the site's watermark. There's been a lot of buzz about art theft around here lately and it's got me paranoid. If you don't like it...well, I'm sorry, but I don't really feel like leaving the front door unlocked anymore, metaphorically speaking.
Edit the first (and hopefully last): Woke up this morning and realized that I couldn't see the background on my computer...and that it didn't really fit the mood I wanted. So I fiddled around with more red. I like it better.
Yes. I know finished is better. But it didn't FEEL finished before. Now it does.
BTW, for the record, now and forever, LED monitors suck eggs. Gimme a good CRT with SANE brightness/saturation levels any day of the week.
